A licensed New York City tour guide will meet you at Paramount Plaza, 51st and Broadway, in front of Cosi's Restaurant and escort you on the subway to the Upper West Side.

Exiting the subway near The Dakota, you will enter the Park and visit Strawberry Fields, Yoko Ono's tribute to her late husband John Lennon. The single word IMAGINE in the black-and-white mosaic  pathway, the title of a popular Lennon song, is the only specific tribute to the musician within the beautifully maintained yet naturalistic, free-flowing Park landscape. Continue to stroll along the bridal paths and park walkways to the statue of Daniel Webster, presented to the City over 130 years ago, and your first view of The Lake and Bow Bridge, one of the most handsomely designed cast-iron bridges in the world. Then you'll visit The Ramble, a 38-acre "wild garden" with rocky outcrops, secluded glades, and a tumbling stream called The Gill. Learn why The Ramble was such an important feature in the initial design of the Park in the 1850s, and why it has become the center of birding activity. Other interesting sites that you'll visit are Belvedere Castle Shakespeare Garden, Delacorte Theater and the Great Lawn.

No tour of the park would miss Bethesda Terrace, the architectural "heart of the Park", with its Bethesda Fountain, Terrace Arcade and magnificent views.

Your tour guide will tell you about the Park's history, why it is such an integral part of a Manhattanite's daily life and maybe even let you catch a glimpse of it's most famous residents, the family of Pale Male!

Return to midtown via bus or subway is on your own. Directions will be provided.

"The tour was great and the tour guide made it that way!" Tour participant, March 2007

"We took the Central Park Walking Tour on Saturday, 7/21. Mark was a great guide! A native New Yorker, he was very knowledgeable on the city and the Park, giving the history and highlights of the Park and anecdotal info on the City. He good-naturedly maintained control of the group while at the same time, was extremely flexible in allowing time for photos, etc. Mark was not stumped by any question the tour members tossed out. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend this tour to others visiting the City!! Thanks for a great time!" Denise & Frank from Atlanta
