Museum Hours of Operation:
  (subject to change) Sunday-Thursday 9:30am-5:30pm; Friday & Saturday 9:30am-9pm. Closed Mondays (except on some Monday holidays), January 1, Thanksgiving Day, December 25. Galleries are cleared at 5:15pm Sun-Thu, and 8:45pm Fri and Sat.

The Main Building of the Metropolitan Museum—its galleries, restaurants, and shops—will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the following Holiday Mondays:

The Museum is located at 1000 Fifth Ave. at 82nd Street

By Subway or Bus:

From The Cloisters: M4 bus directly to 82nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

From East Side of Manhattan: 4, 5, or 6 train to 86th Street and walk three blocks west to Fifth Avenue; or take M1, M2, M3, or M4 bus along Fifth Avenue (from uptown locations) to 82nd Street or along Madison Avenue (from downtown locations) to 83rd Street.

From West Side of Manhattan: C or 1 train to 86th Street, then M86 crosstown bus across Central Park to Fifth Avenue.

From Penn Station: Take M4 bus to 83rd Street and Madison Avenue.

Security Information: No luggage, including small carry-ons and oversize backpacks, is allowed into the Museum. Luggage cannot be checked into the Museum's coat-check facilities. The Museum reserves the right to have a discretionary policy regarding what can, and cannot, be checked into the coat-checks

Planet Hollywood: 45th Street and Broadway. Open daily. Any sandwich or burger platter on the menu and ice cream for dessert, plus unlimited soft drinks, coffee or tea. Tax and gratuity included.

Langan's Restaurant: 47th Street just off Broadway. Open daily (may be closed on St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve.) Enjoy a salad, choice of entrees, dessert and coffee or tea. Menu changes daily.

Ticket Delivery:

Tickets and vouchers are sent to you via standard US postal service to valid US addresses. You may opt to have your purchase shipped to you by an expedited service, such as Federal Express or DHL, to an address in the continental US for an additional fee. If you purchase several options the same day you will only pay once for expedited shipping. Orders will be sent the same day for transactions made by 3pm Eastern US time Monday through Friday. Orders received after 3pm, or on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, will be sent the following business day.
Orders that you expect to receive in less than 2 weeks will require expedited 2-3 Business Day or Next Business Day service.

  • Standard US Mail -- allow 7-10 days.

  • 2-3 Business Day Delivery -- shipped via Federal Express or DHL (at our discretion). Not valid for PO Box addresses.

  • Next Business Day Delivery -- shipped via Federal Express or DHL (at our discretion). Not valid for PO Box addresses.

Orders placed outside of the United States will be delivered by courier service to a Manhattan hotel. Orders cannot be delivered by any other method. There is an additional charge for this service.
